Interview with JoeTheVenezuelan, GTS Animator & Creator of Linda’s Tale

JoeTheVenezuelan has been a giantess enthusiast for well over a decade! Perhaps his first public effort as a creator was a sketch entitled “Oopsy…..” (featuring a giantess called Violet ensnared in power lines) which he posted to DeviantArt in mid-February 2012. A year later came the first episode of Linda’s Tale in the summer of 2013. That 2-minute-long video features a woman walking into her home and finding a strange bottle on a table. Joe wrote a cautionary note not to drink or shower herself in its contents. Alas, Linda’s curiosity got the better of her and she immediately dumped it out over her head. (As you do…) 6,500 milliseconds later she began to grow and a fun GTS series with more than a dash of humor was born! Since then, a total of three episodes have been released and a trailer for the fourth was released eleven months ago. Fans can watch Joe’s animations on Newgrounds and, at least for the moment, on YouTube. They can also get the latest production updates via DeviantArt and Twitter/X. Lastly, folks can support Joe via Patreon.

#1) Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am a fat, balding 32-year old man with unmedicated ADHD and way too much testosterone which is inconvenient since I am low key asexual. I was born in Venezuela in 1991 and came to the U.S. in 2008.

#2) How did you first become interested in giant women rampaging through cities?

Since I was a kid I had a weird fascination with giants, I am not sure why. I guess they were thrilling and scary. I remember feeling absolutely horrified from that scene in “Honey I shrunk the kids” where the dad almost eats his own children. (Spanish dubbed, of course).

I am not sure how it happened, but eventually this fear started to get mixed with sexiness as I hit puberty. I remember watching Ghostbusters 2 and having my brain MELT because there is a closeup of the statue of liberty crushing a police car under her sandaled foot.

I think that was where it all started for me.

#3) How would you describe your animations?

Silly, horny, unrefined and an unfiltered representation of my desires. I want to make cartoons that do not take themselves seriously. I’ve always had a passion to entertain, I did some impromptu stand-ups when I was a kid. I loved making my own comics and always DREAMED of maybe making a cartoon someday. Making cartoons is one of the very few productive activities that I passionately enjoy doing, I just wished I could afford to do it more often.

#4) Who are a few of your favorite creators? This might be a difficult question, but it’s great feedback for other artists and writers.

I have a deep respect and admiration for Richard Williams’ animation. I also like Ralph Bakshi’s unapologetic silliness and passion. I love Quentin Tarantino’s movies, they are so raw, entertaining and well written. I also love YouTubers like Kitty0706 (RIP), Egoraptor, Chris O’Neill, Joel Haver and Sr Pelo.

When it comes to the size community, ThadeousMcBoosh, ShameOnKinky, RavenRavenRaven, Lajest, LewdSonk, LaPotatoe and Raps.

#5) Can you give a brief overview of the work required to bring a single episode of Linda’s Tale to life? How many people are involved and how much time does it take?

If we go with averages, it takes about 5 days of work to produce 7 seconds of animation. (For an average shot) I did not fully record our collective working hours for Episode 3, but I did for Coco Mayhem, which took 260 hours to make. That is for 1:30 of animation (The credits dragged for a while and they were animated by LeatherPleather, his time was not recorded). Linda’s Tale Episode 3 was in production for 10 months, with various degrees of efficiency. Production was at its most efficient on the last third of production.

The size of my team varies depending on the project and their contributions fluctuate a lot. For Episode 3, I received a ton of help from SweetChocoBoi, he sketched almost all the keyframes of Linda. He and I did the bulk of the work, but we got auxiliary help from good friends. Tales of Scale helped with music and narration, for example.

#6) When can we expect Linda’s Tale 4? Any other projects on the horizon?

Ah yes, the million dollar question. The short answer is that I don’t really know. I want to be done with it in the next 6 months or so, but I keep having to battle financial insecurity and my ADHD. Things are looking up, however, it turns out there are a LOT of artists that have ADHD and have gone to therapy and found ways to be productive. ShameOnKinky and Tales of Scale both have it and have been very supportive and helpful.

When it comes to other projects, there is one short animation I am planning on working on but I really want to save that one for AFTER LT4. I am sure that by then the new one million dollar question will be “When LT5?” This new animation will be about a new character I am working on called Bella. Unlike Linda, she is not full stupid and has a more mature approach.
