Interview with Lushaani, Expansion and Transformation Artist

Honey the Sloshy Maid!

Lushaani has been creating fantastic expansion and inflation art for well over a decade! Her drawings include themes such as BDSM, blueberry inflation, breast expansion, breeding or pregnancy fetishism, transformations (becoming centaurs or having tentacles), weight gain, and more! In addition to comics and standalone images, Lushaani made visual novels and short video games that can played via a web browser. These include “Cheryl: Big, Blue & Sassy!”, “Honey’s Sizing Up Game!”, and “Tavin’s Dream Master” to name just a few. Furthermore, Lushaani has played an important role in multiple SizeCons, both in-person and online, by speaking on panels (such as the diversity panel in SizeCon ’25) and lending her voice to the SizeCon radio play. Numerous examples of Lushaani’s art, including Halloween Event pieces with horror-themed images and accompanying writings, can be viewed for free at DeviantArt or Fur Affinity with additional works available for purchase at DeviantArt or itch.io. Fans can also follow her social media account at Bluesky. Lastly, folks can support Lushaani via Patreon

#1) Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

Well, I’m a First Nations woman from the west coast. I live in British Columbia- but I’ve traveled around a lot of my youth. Having lived in the plains, up north, and even in the states a bit. I’ve been doing niche fetish smut as a hobby for all of my adult life, and I’d say professionally for around ten years now. What I love most about the online fetish communities is the endless variety that is very inspiring- in general, I want to see and do different things constantly- themes, topics, characters, activities, art mediums- I’m never satisfied doing just the same thing over and over again for long. And that informs my work and also contributes to my enjoyment of internet communities. There’s always something new to experience and try out, and I really enjoy that! I firmly believe in diversity as well- and try to include that in my work, through sexuality, gender identity, and character design. Though I do try to put more native americans into my work. Cause I believe that people should be able to see themselves in media- even or especially in smut.

#2) How did you first become interested in expansion and inflation?

When I first started out in online communities, it was actually pregnancy and weight gain that were my earliest remembered hyper fixations. I think it was sparked by a combination of gag scenes in cartoons and movies, as well as pregnancy stories. While I’d end up focusing heavily on feminine characters, even during these early days I enjoyed male pregnancy fanfiction and bear weight gaining stories. I started to get into expansion and inflation specifically when some artists that I’d started to follow for pregnancy and belly content dabbled in air inflation and blueberry stuff. A funny anecdote about that- in direct contrast to the person I became- I remember being very put off by “permanence”. I’d remember having an uncomfortable reaction to a hyper pregnancy story I’d read that included dramatic permanent breast growth, hip widening, and the like. Yeah, at one point I was a “no-consequences” kink enjoyer. Since then, I’ve become all about consequences and permanent endings. Funny how that works.

#3) What are a few of your favorite art pieces, comics, or stories from other creators?

I absolutely love Mabo Coruscant’s work- his inflation artwork and mastery over shapes is super inspiring. Definitely encourages me to try to learn and improve. I’d say similar things for Karbo a giant monster girl vore artist. When it comes to things like comics I’d say that the stuffing and weight gain comics by Kipteitei have inspired me- with their length and relationship driven storytelling. Stjepan Sejic’s Sunstone, though more grounded than most stuff I make, is absolutely beautiful- and a celebration of BDSM romance. Definitely inspires me to try harder. And I have to acknowledge Lemonfont’s shapeshifter- it was the comic I most remember starting to break me out of my “fem-only” period- and get really comfortable with explicit pornography and masculine characters and traits. Tailblazer’s animations inspire me- though I haven’t yet tried to break into animation- his animations really tempt me to try picking it up as my next medium to learn. I have to shout out my friends The Producer and The Assistant, their universe “Caliph Industries” heavily inspired me with permanent transformations and the blending of various kinks, especially BDSM and relationship tropes- and tones verging on horror. Lastly, bit of a content warning, but the visual novel developer “Gatobob” and her erotic horror focused visual novels were what made me go “I want to do that” for breaking into visual novel and game design. There are so many more people I’ve been inspired by over the years- I could probably ramble about that for hours.

#4) How would you describe your own art?

I’d describe my art as tonally inconsistent. Haha. But if I was to be more generous, I’d say that my art tries to be expressive, diverse, and functional in a variety of emotional tones and genres. I try to draw character designs that can be sexual, fun and silly, emotional and dramatic, or terrifying and disturbing. I don’t know if I’ve quite succeeded yet- but I’d say that it’s pretty. I have some anime and manga inspiration in my roots, but I’d like to think that I’ve grown into a pretty distinctive unique art style.

#5) Do you have any advice for people who want to create art?

I’d say my two biggest pieces of advice are “handle the perfectionist inside of you.” Not everything you make has to be perfect, it never will be perfect. You should absolutely try as much as you’re able- but I believe that finishing things, be they individual pieces of artwork or entire large projects, is how you learn. You learn more from a finished “okay” or even “bad” project, than an unfinished masterpiece. Keep making stuff- and you’ll learn. The other thing I’d advise is “create for yourself.” In this age of social media, it is *incredibly* easy to become fixated on developing a “brand” or a consistent output for your audience. But I don’t think that’s healthy, I believe that the best artwork comes from people who enjoy and love what they make. When you compromise trying to broaden the audience or be palatable for everyone, you’re ultimately diluting your voice. Create stuff that is fully and completely “you” and your work will go far. Maybe to random or unexpected places, but far nonetheless!

#6) What rewards do you give to Patreon supporters? Are there any upcoming projects you would like to mention?

When it comes to my patreon, I only have two tiers. And I post every saturday. My 1$ tier is basically a tip jar, but it comes with access to my public discord with a patron role, and get the weekly updates of art I’m working on. I have a large backlog, so on average, my patrons see work that’s finished about two months before it’d be posted publicly. And my 5$ role get to see the more ambitious projects- that’s the tier that I post weekly updates on my ongoing projects of the moment. In the past this has included my visual novel projects, comics I’ve written, and currently- my acrylic painting and portfolio expansion project I’m working on for the FPCC. As well, I have a new comic in progress, over sixty pages now, I call “Blue Treats.” It’s a slow burn blueberry inflation comic, capturing the vibe of a swinger’s or bdsm club party- just focused on blueberries. It’s part of my current effort to include more trans characters in my work, and all three of the main characters are trans, two trans women and a trans man. I’m hoping that I’ll finish it in the next month or two- and be able to release it on itch.io, but it’s available now with weekly updates for my 5$ patrons!
