Interview with Mara More, Writer of “Excessive Erotica” for Serious Size Queens

Mara More (a.k.a. Phen) is a writer of erotic growth who has been producing eBooks for sale since 2013. Long-time furry and size community members may also recognize her eponymous hyperherm phoenix persona. Gentle growth fans can purchase her content via Amazon and Smashwords. Personally, I recommend “Fairytale Giantess.” That short work tells the story of kidnapped princess Sofia who grows huge, with the help of a knight’s cock, to rescue herself from the wicked giantess Mesmer. “Night of the Voluptuous Vampires” not only had a sexy growing Countess, but it also incorporated the epistolary format (the narrative was told in journal entries) used in Bram Stoker’s Dracula! Folks can follow Mara at Blogspot, DeviantArt, Fur Affinity, Reddit, and Twitter. They can also support Mara via her Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/Phen and find all her links at this Carrd: https://maramore.carrd.co/

#1) Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

Hiya, I’m Mara! I love to hike, I obsess over strategy games, and I’m pretty decent at magic tricks. I grew up in Denmark and currently live in the UK.

I have a PhD in computational biology, which is fitting because the biology I write about often benefits from number crunching! My big aspiration is to make a living out of writing one day, and I’ll plug away at it in my spare time until I get there.

I’m Phen in the furry hyper/macro circles, where I started my creative journey. Given the antipathy between the communities of the kinks that I write in, it’s also a source of the occasional identity crisis, as I try to balance what I can show where without undue offense. As it is, Phen is where I write with less restraint.

#2) How did you first become interested in “excessive erotica”?

Like so many other young minds, I was tainted from childhood by transformation kinks in cartoons. One of my earliest memories is of Jasmine getting transformed into a naga and my subsequent dream about getting lost in her growing coils. I never stood a chance, really.

The Unending BE Addventure gave me my first taste of writing. It gave me a place to explore a variety of kinks while building confidence and experience (which I lacked entirely at that point). Perhaps more importantly, it also frustrated me. Many promising premises were abandoned, while bad writing polluted the sprawling story threads. The only thing to do, I thought, was to step up and create the stories myself.

#3) What are a few of your favorite works from other creators?

We can’t get around the late and great Doug Winger. The influence of his carefree, hyper-hung cartoon girls has never left me, even if I could never match his pun game.

There’s too many fantastic artists for me to name. JollyJack, Jacques00, Berggie. Always really enjoyed BE Story Club’s Stranger than Fiction (Mariano Navarro).

For writing, the stories of Tazel Sixpaws have inspired me most. DissidentLove and Mr. Walrus are also amazing writers.

#4) How would you describe your stories?

Excessive. Hence the tagline.

To be less glib, I settled on ‘excessive’ as a catch-all because I love a spectrum of expansion kinks and I love the concept of more. Too much of a good thing, loss of control, pushing too far and digging your own (sexy) grave… I write about mortals facing gods, about cocky heroes getting knocked down, about reversals, unfair odds, and most of all, escalation. To me, there’s few things as potent as that moment when the hero thinks they’ve gained control only to realize, “oh shit, there’s more.”

At the core, it’s about power. Gaining it and losing yourself in pleasure as you grow bigger and better. Losing it and gaining… well, usually the fuck of your life from a bigger and stronger partner.

Either way you slice it, my protagonists get overwhelmed, and that’s the way I like it.

#5) Any tips for other authors who want to sell erotica?

Jump right into it. There’s resources for how to self-publish and plenty of places to show your work around for free while you’re building yourself a name.

Write what you are passionate about, and that passion will show in the quality of your work. There’s lots of bad writing out there having great success in the bestseller lists, and I always find that so encouraging, because it means that success is possible for any of us.

#6) What are the rewards given to your Patreon supporters?

My supporters get all of my writings and art from 2008 until now (except for my ebooks). This is why I’m Phen on Patreon; I present all of my works, be it giantess, futa, or furry, tagged and organized in one place.

As I started my Patreon last year, my (non-ebook) writing has become chiefly exclusive to my supporters in my bid to make it a more serious career prospect. I interact a lot with my supporters (especially on the community discord server) and get their feedback on my current and future projects.

Currently, Patreon supporters have extra votes for my ongoing tournament to find the best (and biggest) futa waifu; I’m planning to do a similar project for bust size or height in the future.

As a final note, my Patreon is still pretty recent and may well transform as we go forward—as all things should.

#7) Do you have any upcoming projects that you’d like to mention?

Voluptuous Vampires 2, which I’ve just finished up for publication. It’s my first ebook in a while and I have to say that I’m really happy with the mood and the dialogue in it. More curves, more growing vampire dommes. The continuation is already building itself in my head…

The Queen of Cock tournament is currently ongoing and will run for a few months. This is for my ‘unlimited size’ audience, so definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but unrepentant hyper lovers will enjoy it.

Aside from these, I have a long (and ever-expanding) list of ideas for short stories: Exploring a fantasy setting devoted to transformation and size, a therapist that makes her patients fantasies come true, a wish-fulfillment by reality revision that goes deliciously out of control.

So, plenty for me to write. The world always needs more growing women. (EDITOR’S NOTE: Amen to that!)
