This post will conclude the blog activities for this year. I will resume publishing in mid-January 2024. Of note, the blog’s focus will change a bit. Posts will tend to be longer, but released less frequently. A less frequent posting schedule will free up time to finish overdue projects such as the video essay on 1965’s “Village of the Giants.” Additionally, it will enable more research and in-depth reporting.
Some of my favorite articles to write in 2023 were research-heavy editorials covering diverse topics such as Chick tracts, Ethical Porn: Creator Compensation and Piracy, and the Career of Bert I. Gordon a.k.a. Mr. B.I.G. It’s illuminating to peruse old magazines, read obscure biographies, and watch forgotten interviews to gain a more accurate understanding of those topics. A bit like searching for lost treasure in a jungle or digging up diamonds in the rough. Thus, the hope is to create more editorials and video essays in 2024. Of course, I will also continue to seek out new and old creators to interview.
