Interview with Ziel, Writer of Gay Macrophilia Involving Tiny Dudes and Macro Men

Ziel (a.k.a. Zielregen) is an author who specializes in gay sizey stuff. Primarily, the focus is on regular humans growing, but occasionally there are shrinking scenarios and scenarios with furry characters. As of this writing, Ziel has shared an impressive 92 stories at Metabods which combined equate to over 1.1 million words of male transformation fantasies! Growth fans in particular should check out examples such as “Bet you can’t have just one,” “Raygun-nomics,” and “This town’s not big enough.” Furthermore, he has written more than just what is shared at Metabods. Ziel occasionally teamed up with artists to create illustrated stories. One instance of that was “X-Mass” which him made with artist Seraphiel. Currently, Ziel is accepting commissions for stories which are typically 3K words or longer. Interested parties can review his Bluesky posts for more information on commissions. #1) Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

I grew up in a military family and thus spent my childhood moving from one place to the next. I’ve lived in several states and even Japan (just long enough to ruin my musical tastes for the rest of my life). I’m currently back in the states and working at a small accounting firm, but it’s not nearly enough to keep the lights on so I’ve been taking odd jobs and comms on the side to help. I’ve always loved writing and always wished I could make it my full-time job. I’m hoping that once I get my CPA license I’ll be able to get settled into a job that doesn’t eat all my time and leaves me with enough energy to do more personal writing. I’d like to do some fantasy and sci-fi stuff outside of the erotica I have been writing.

#2) How did you first become interested in fantastical male transformations?

Size stuff I can easily blame on Saturday morning cartoons, and maybe muscle growth falls into that category as well. I think my earliest hyperfixation was shrinking. Like, I clearly remember getting one of those tiny cardboard picture books that was like 10 pages and mostly pictures that featured Michelangelo from the TMNT being shrunk to rat sized and having to like make a raft out of a bar of soap and all that to get back to his friends and get grown back. Always loved those stories where the normal world suddenly becomes strange and dangerous. Even close friends unwittingly become a danger. In that way even a bedroom can become a huge adventure.

Somehow, I have managed to create a couple of different characters that all have some variation of growth as their superpower but it comes with a drawback of overusing it causes them to shrink. Like, one of my earliest OCs had this power where he’d use his own mass to not just power his healing factor but to cast spells so the longer a fight dragged on, the smaller he got. I brought him out of retirement so to speak when I first started writing which led to the Vanda stories, but I never got into the lore and the magic system and the crazy shounen battles that were a major part of the original iteration of the character.

#3) Are any of your everyday acquaintances aware of your interest in macrophilia?

No one I know IRL. My online dnd group kinda figured it out pretty quickly when I played three tinies in a row. So, as I’ve been getting to know them more and hang out with them more outside of game night, it’s a bit weird to be ‘the micro guy’ in the group. Not bad per se, but definitely a strange feeling having it be The Thing people know me as.

#4) What are a few of your favorite size fantasies from other creators? I know this is a difficult question and your answer, like everyone else’s, can change over time. Nonetheless, I shamelessly include this because it serves as awesome feedback when other creators read that folks like their work.

I’m more versed in hyper/muscle stuff from other creators than I am sizey stuff. I have trouble finding stuff that really jives with me in size stuff made by others. I really enjoy both the cutesy aspect of extreme size difference stuff as well as the action and adventure aspect, but I can’t really get into intense violence and gore. It seems like in gay size stuff there’s often an intense focus on the violence and power which is off putting to me.

Despite being far more interested in dudes than I am in ladies, I’ve been finding some straight stuff that pushes my buttons lately. Like, I recently came across a Japanese artist that goes by Marusyamo who does tiny dudes and large girls. Like millimeter tall men and seven foot Amazonians. This artist does hyper detailed micro sequences where the dude gets to be fractions of a millimeter and the extreme closeup of the girl’s body starts to look like an alien landscape.

This image came from Ziel’s “X-Mass” comic. Click here to read X-Mass for free at the Metabods Erotic Story Archive. Be advised the comic includes full male nudity, a man outgrowing an apartment building, and a cum shot that covers a city block.

#5) How would you describe your stories?

Really hard for me to sum my stories up in a tidy way. I do mostly gay stuff, but a lot of it is a male solo piece and there’s a few straight pieces in the mix as well, so I can’t really say I do only gay stuff. I also tend to jump around between doing one off short stories and long form serials. Even among the serials, the tone and vibes change from chapter to chapter. My interests seem to change weekly and my mood changes even faster than that. I’ve been trying to get better lately doing vibe surfing where I try to latch onto a specific feel or tone or topic that has my interest at the time and milk it for all its worth before the vibe fades. I think this leads to a different feel from one story to the next.

#6) Are there any upcoming projects that you would like to mention?

I kind of alluded to it earlier, but I keep coming back to the idea of a size shifter superhero who, if he overuses his growth powers, gets smaller afterwards. I watched the first season of My Hero Academia a while back and really loved the vibe of All Might, and I kind of feel like the series could have really done more with that dynamic. Like, this dude who the common public sees as this massive, powerful, seemingly invincible bastion of might actually has a weak civilian persona, and the more he uses his super muscle form, the weaker his civilian persona gets. In MHA this was shown by having All Might’s true form be emaciated and skeletal, but it got me wanting to do a long form story of a dude who becomes a superhero when he gets growth powers, but the more he uses his powers and the more the public starts to rely on him, the more he starts to dwindle. I’d love to play around with ideas of burnout and the need to perform at a level that is physically damaging to oneself in order to please others all while having a lot of fun with the various sizes that go into it.

This is probably still a long way off, though. I started doing a little with it and did a handful of scenes, but I cannibalized those scenes and rolled them into a similar project that was more slice of life one offs. It’s all like loosely sequential chapters that sort of bury the lede in that the guy has stable size shifting powers at first but wildly overuses it and gets super micro size and rather than a focus on him slowly shrinking, it’s him steadily getting his size back as he tries to recover from his injuries. The driving force of these stories are more that he’s an irascible shit who can’t help but throw himself into action even though he knows he should be resting … I guess I could post those. I’ve got a lot of that written, but there’s no real end goal with that story. Might be something I can dust off and post as a serial.

Other than that, I have two long form slow(ish) shrink stories. One, which is very close to being a fully completed novel, features a library worker who contracts a shrinking virus that’s going around. It’s a world where The Virus is a known entity, but everyone just kind of deals with it because every case thus far has been mild. However, this guy quickly realizes that his case is an extreme case and continues to shrink and shrink during his shift. No smut in this story. It’s almost entirely slice of life and suspense and action. The secondary lead is his coworker who is a lady that there’s no romantic tension with. They’re just good friends. I’ve got like a full rough draft done of this, but it needs more work in the middle. It also needs a dang title. I really just cannot come up with one, and it’s the biggest stumbling block to starting to post the early chapters.

Another one is one that I don’t see ever actually seeing the light of day. It’s incredibly rough and the more I poke at it the more it crumbles. I may just scavenge it for parts and use the scenes in it for a number of other stories. The initial idea is that a researcher is slowly shrinking and he’s at the lab/his office trying to discover what happened and how to stop it. I have a lot written in it, but it’s split into like two major parts. One where he’s actually at the office and trying to avoid detection from his increasingly larger coworkers and another where he ends up at the gym and gets stuck in the young intern’s jock. The tone shifts to outright pornographic during the gym scenes. Not to mention, the gym scenes are far more fleshed out than any of the office stuff so who knows. Maybe I’ll pull out the gym stuff and use that as its own story and go back to the drawing board with all the office stuff. I’d just write a new intro for the gym stuff where I can be unfathomably horny from start to finish.
