Interview with Trent Harlow, the “muscle guy” in the 3-D super-heroine art community

miss_me

Trent Harlow is an artist known for his CGI illustrations of muscular women. His flagship character is Yumiko Nakamoto (中本 由美子), a.k.a. Tora the Tigress. Yumi has the ability to transform into a feline humanoid. “Tora” is the Japanese word for “tiger,” and the kanji (Chinese characters used in Japanese writing) for tiger, 虎 , is printed on a shield that Yumi carries while in tigress form. Additionally, Trent and his wife wrote stories for Muscle Fan comics, specifically “Dungeon Crawlers,” “Pillow Talk,” and “The Strange & Sexy Case.” Trent also commissioned muscle growth-themed works from Alyssa the Comic Book Babe, specifically the “Power of Samson” and “Power of Samson 02” audio clips.

#1) Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

Well, I grew up all over the US (my dad was in the military), and now I am also serving in the armed forces. I’m married with a teenage son, two dogs, and a cat. I’m a bit of a weeb and am obsessed with Japanese culture. I love anime, manga, City Pop, and Kung Fu movies. I’m also a gamer, and lately have been glued to my PS4.

#2) Being a “muscle guy,” what kind of work out routine do you follow?

Up until my recent movie I was following Dana Lynn Bailey’s workout program, only stopping because I haven’t had a chance to find a new gym yet. I try and run 3 times a week as well. DLB likes to mix traditional bodybuilding with strongman and crossfit exercises, so it’s a really great program.

#3) How did you first become interested in size-fetish media?

The episode of Popeye called “Hillbillin’ and Cooin’” and the Tom & Jerry episode “Dr Jekyll & Mr Mouse”. The later of which I’m working on an FMG themed version. After that it was She-Hulk comics.

#4) Are any of your everyday acquaintances aware of your interest?

Just my wife. Though I have plenty of online everyday acquaintances that know about it. I make an effort to keep this stuff separate from my RL career.

#5) What are a few of your favorite works from other creators?

Therapy Origins 1-4  by ComicBookBabe (Niteflirt);

Gym Session by DornVA (Soundcloud);

Mighty Maidens of Maximum Muscle by Nathanomir (DeviantArt);

Toramazing by FDComics (DeviantArt);

Grow Fighter by ZZZ Comics (Give us a sequel already!);

Buff/Nerf by Lingster (Amazon);

The Librarian by Femgrowth (Diana The Valkyrie/Amy’s Conquest).

#6) How would you describe your own art?

Mediocre! I kid, I kid. Nate will likely yell at me for that one. I guess if I had to describe my art is would be; romantic and silly fun, topped off with some buff and beautiful goddesses.

#7) How was your experience working with Interweb Comics (the company behind Muscle Fan)? Do you have any advice for others wanting to get their comic scripts published?

It was a little daunting at first, having never written a script before, but Rolling-Thunder (the editor) is super helpful and they break it down for you exactly how to format the script. It was a great experience, and taught me a lot about scripting that I am applying to making my own comics now.

#8) Are there any upcoming projects that you would like to mention?

Muscle Milk; a fun and sexy FMG comic featuring the 3D models of ComicBookBabe and DornVA. BrawlerZ; an FMG fighting/wrestling comic that is still in the early phases of writing. I’m also open for commissions!
