There She Grows is on hiatus

I received tragic news after today’s review went online. My brother has just died of COVID. I was not even aware that he was sick, not sure if anyone in my family knew. I will travel back to the States to help my parents settle his estate. Until my return to Japan, this blog will be on hiatus.

I woke up this morning excited about Halloween and intent on sharing artwork which was specifically commissioned, months ago, for the holiday. October is one of my favorite times of the year so I put plans in place to make this month special. Instead, due to a preventable disease, I have to bury my brother.

If you’re reading this and are not vaccinated yet, please protect yourself. For those living in the United States, the vaccine is completely free and widely available. Getting the vaccine does not mean that you support one politician over another. It’s a preventive health issue, nothing more. Democrats and Republicans alike have gotten the vaccine, including former President Trump and President Biden. Most, if not all, of the conservative and right-wing members of congress and senators have gotten the shot.

Protect yourself. If not for your own sake, then do it for your brother or sister, do it for your parents or children, do it for your loved ones and for your friends. Do it so they don’t have to receive tragic news.

  1. I’m terribly sorry to hear this. Your frustration with this entirely preventable tragedy is justified. This is the news nobody wants to receive. Take care of yourself during this time, doing whatever that takes.

  3. Solo, you have my heart felt condolances for your loss. Death in ones family is something that we all have to deal with in our own way. Do what you gotta do. We’ll be here when you return.
