Size Advent Calendar Day 13 – Review of “A Giantess’ Christmas” from Giantess Fan

Good morning everyone,

Today the Advent calendar will feature a review of “A Giantess’ Christmas.” A Giantess’ Christmas was drawn by YouLZ (of Studio Arieta) and written by a0040pc for Giantess Fan. This 15-page comic (not counting the cover and preview pages) was released on December 8, 2023, and appears to be a stand-alone issue. That’s to say it concluded with “The End” and not “To be continued…” Although, presumably the series could be given more issues if interest was sufficient.

A0040pc has written several stories for Interweb Comics, the parent company of Giantess Fan. These stories include, but are not limited to, “Giantess RPG,” “One Extreme to Another,” and “Survival of the Smallest.”

YouLZ also drew the “Class Reunion” and “The Demonic Deal” series. The artist has a realistic style which was appreciated. YouLZ drew Mira as curvy, but with a body that could be achieved by many women in real life. Contrast that to the nigh impossible to achieve curves of ultra-voluptuous ladies drawn by artists like Henrique Sefra (a.k.a. HSefra, see an example of his work below). I am not claiming that one style (realistic or stylized) is inherently better than the other, but it is good to mix things up.

I love this cover and want more size stories set in outer space!

Regarding the plot of A Giantess’ Christmas, it features a young couple named Mira and Teddy. Mira grew from what she considered “normal-size,” several inches shorter than her husband Teddy, to an amazing ten-feet tall over the span of a year. The reason for this growth was not given, nor was any effort made to research the reason.

Instead the narrative detailed a routine Christmas which the two spent together and how Mira quickly overcame a minor problem. Additionally, It was subtle, but it was nice to see a somewhat different setting than normal. In my experience comics such as this one take place in generic American towns in which the inhabitants lack identifiable regional accents, there are no unique foods, nor are there noteworthy geographic features to make the comics feel distinct.

However, this had what appeared to be UK electrical outlets and spelled “center” in the British manner, “centre.” Were these conscious choices intended to impart a tiny bit of originality? More than likely no. There were just details which a0040pc, the author, was familiar with from his regular life. (NOTE: According to a0040pc’s DeviantArt profile, he is located in the United Kingdom.) Nonetheless, conscious choice or not, I’ll take whatever variety I can get!

Note the non-American electrical outlets.

It’s difficult to discuss this comic in more detail without spoiling the entire plot. Suffice to say that there was little conflict nor was an attempt made to provide a lot of background or deep lore. At its heart this was a simple, but fun little story. A good choice if someone wants a heartwarming tale (call it “wholesome smut”) about a giantess and her regular-sized husband. By the way, this did include a sex scene so you won’t miss out on the smut!

Regarding areas to improve, that question depends on the reader’s intentions. If you want a heart-pounding tale full of high stakes and nail-biting cliffhangers then this won’t be for you. Keeping in mind then that this was intended to be simple wholesome smut I would first recommend a bit more continuity in the art. For example, the eye color of the two leads changes at times. Sometimes their eyes were light blue and other times they were a brownish red.

On the left is an image from page 2 while on the right is an image from page 4. Note how the eye color changes from one page to another.

Also, a Christmas tree suddenly materialized in their bedroom during the sex scene. The tree wasn’t there in previous panels showing the room. It seems to have a strange branch jutting out from the top.

Lastly, there was a pin-up pose in which Mira was meant to be sexy, but the awkward manner in which she bent her knees (I guess to fit inside the room) detracted from the appeal. Your mileage may vary.

Still, I do not want to be too harsh. This was a fun look at what a giant person would go through in regular situations such as a holiday with someone they love.

Overall, A Giantess’ Christmas is recommended. It’s a quick read suitable for a cozy evening during this festive time of the year.

That’s it for now folks. Come back to There She Grows tomorrow for more Size Advent Calendar goodness!
