Interview with Gearrain, NSFW GTS/GT Artist & Author

Gearrain has been drawing and posting to DeviantArt since at least 2015. His art includes giantesses on a cosmic scale as well as tinies the size of ants. He collaborated with fellow artist Krieginax to create a series of images featuring each other’s original characters (OCs). He also created a pair of animated shorts using the Source Filmmaker (SFM) and shared them on YouTube. Additionally, Gearrain created a long-running 13-part story entitled “Survival of the Biggest” and a 5-part story entitled “The Life of Hel.” Both of which can be read for free on DeviantArt. #1) Can you tell the readers a little about yourself?

My name is Gearrain. I live in Norway and have lived here my entire life. I live in the Eastern part of Norway, meaning that I live far away from the mountains and the coast. Instead I live out in the farmland. I don’t personally live on a farm, but there are cornfields and farms surrounding my entire town. So I have grown up with a tight set of people in a safe and happy area. I am also a cat person.

I have worked at several jobs, most of them has been as a substitute in kindergartens. Currently I am working as a cleaner on several schools. Not a full on janitor or anything, I just clean schools when the janitor or other employees are sick. However, my dream is to work full time with my giant/giantess art.

I am currently preparing for the student life, which will make me quite busy with studying, but I have promised myself to even out my studies, jobs, hobbies and art.

#2) How did you first become interested in size-fetish media?

My interest in size-fetish media came at an early age. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a time period with tons of cartoons and animated movies. A vast majority of these forms of media often include scenarios where someone grows. Sometimes there would be episodes where a male character would experience muscle and size growth, sometimes even becoming monsters. However, I found myself vastly more interested by episodes where female characters would grow, mostly because mainly females would experience a true change in size. Looking back at it now I realize just how many cartoons I watched that had an episode where someone would grow

• Dexter’s Lab: In the episode “The Big Sister” Dee Dee grows incredibly huge! This episode was definitely a favorite of mine, and matches one of favorite size scenarios with someone growing to a huge size and just having fun with it. The title of the episode also completely fits my size pun related humor.
• Phineas & Ferb: In the episode “Attack of the 50 foot Sister” Candace grows by taking a size potion due to her desire for growing bigger. This episode definitely had a huge impact, by building up one of my favorite size-themes, which is “more than you wished for” with the idea of someone seeking out a way to grow a bit bigger, just for them to grow WAY more than wanted!
• Totally Spies: The episode “Attack of the 50 Mandy” contains almost everything that I have grown to love! (see? Pun!) References to Attack Of the 50 foot woman, lots of size puns like “you grow girl!”, someone growing bigger gradually over time, a super hot growth sequence, a giant sized person using their new size to their own advantage and finally the fight between two giantesses.

Episodes likes these is what got me into size-fetish media. There haven’t been too many giantesses in animated movies, but my favorite has to be in Monsters Vs Aliens. That growth sequence in the church might be the hottest sequence in any animated movie ever.

#3) Are any of your everyday acquaintances aware of your interest?

Not a single one of my everyday acquaintances are aware of my size interests. I like to keep the two sides of my life separated. It can be tough to keep a side of my life from friends and family, especially when they ask to look at what I have drawn and my non-fetish art is not as impressive, however it’s also relaxing in a way to know that I can post about my interests without feeling stressed out. Having essentially two lives can both be great and difficult. It’s kind of like being a superhero!

#4) Given this time of quarantines and social distancing due to the worldwide spread of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), are there games or films you could recommend for those people stuck at home?

The remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 are both fantastic for anyone who seeks a thrill! If you seek an intense challenge then I can highly recommend Sekiro: Shadows die twice. My personal favorite game to play is Divinity Original Sin 2! DOS2 is my favorite RPG of all time and is a fantastic way to make time go by faster, especially if you love RPG’s or DND! You can also play the game with your friends which is a huge bonus if you are missing each other. If you want a kicker: There is a type of magic called Source that some people are born with. Source attracts monsters from the Void, and because of this The Magisters, a divine order, is chaining people up and taking them away to a remote island. You are playing as a Godwoken. A champion chosen by your god. On your quest for answers and power it’s up to you how you will use your growing might. Benevolent or cruel, no matter which path you walk it will feel incredibly satisfying due to how amazingly the game is written! If you aren’t convinced yet then know that Divinity Original Sin 2 is one of the few games on Steam to have an Overwhelmingly Positive rating.

If you want to watch some good movies then I can recommend rewatching the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also known as the MCU. There is a lot of movies to go through and it will keep you busy and entertained if you watch one of them every night, or binge watch them. I am aware that superhero movies aren’t for everyone, in that case I have some other movies that I can highly recommend: The Lord of the Rings trilogy, All of the Star Wars movies. If you want to watch some other long movies then I recommend watch Tarantino’s movies like Pulp Fiction. All of these are wonderful choices to get the time moving!

#5) What are a few of your favorite size fantasies from other creators? I know this is a difficult question and your answer, like everyone else’s, can change over time. Nonetheless, I shamelessly include this question because it serves as awesome feedback when other creators read that folks like their work.

I follow quite a few other size creators. I have seen some incredibly hot fantasies and some stories that blow me away in terms of creativity. Some stories have made me straight up emotional. All of these are amazing feats. Within the size community there are a couple fantasies and stories that I adore! Sadly I can’t mention all of them, but I will mention those who I feel reflect the most upon what I enjoy in a size fantasy/story. I will do my best to not spoil any story I reference, as I wouldn’t want to rob anyone of an amazing experience 🙂

Krieginax’s story “Because your size shouldn’t matter” is both incredibly hot as a fantasy while also having a story I deeply enjoy! The reason I love this as a fantasy is because I love the idea of The Infinity. I love the notion in stories of there being a “bigger fish” that can view and interact with the story as a puppet master of sorts. The fantasy also gets a huge bonus from me for being emotionally engaging! I often find myself enjoying a size fantasy way more if it has characters that I can enjoy. It also makes size changing potentially way hotter as I know the implications of how a change in size could affect someone.

DeviantKibate has a series that absolutely reflects upon a core part of what I love in size fantasies, extreme size changing! The series is called “The Superficial Wish”. The first story follows a redhead that gets granted a wish to get taller and sexier, and ends up growing bigger…bigger…and ends up outgrowing everything! This is the hottest kind of fantasy for me! The Superficial Wish 2 follows a girl who ends up getting the other extreme, shrinking into nothingness! Just the extreme nature of both scenarios is what I love! Especially the growth one! One could say I am addicted to growth, and this story definitely hits all the right buttons for me!

The last fantasy/story I am going to mention came from a colab between two of my favorite 3D giantess/growth animators in the size community, AZmaybe9 and MinMax3d! Both of them make amazing Giantess Growth content on their own, but in this colab they truly brought an incredibly hot fantasy to life! It’s called “Doki-Doki Mile High Club”. It follows the girls of Doki-Doki literature club with some of the members growing. The fantasy aspect that I find incredibly hot is when Natsuki forces Yuri to grow! She originally grows herself and enjoys it, until she realizes how embarrassing it could be, considering she wears a skirt, so she forces her taller and bustier friend to grow. The way she grows her is incredibly hot, and how she just keeps growing her even bigger makes it even hotter.

All of these fantasies truly deserve reviews on their own! The creators behind these works deserve all the praise possible! The way they were listed off here is meant to explain why I love the fantasies these creators brought to life!

#6) How would you describe your art? How would you describe your story “Survival of the Biggest”?

I would describe my art as “inspired”. I am the type of artist that can’t truly draw anything without being inspired. This is why most of my art on my DeviantArt is based on events that have happened in roleplays I have played, because while playing I get inspired to draw. I would also say that my art is Character based. When I draw I like to tell a story in a single image.

So usually my art is based around events or a character doing something special, which is why my art usually features just a single giant character, to give them more focus. I would also like to add that I haven’t been nearly as active with my uploads the past year. That is because I haven’t been too happy with my quality and therefore I have been spending a lot of time improving to hopefully post art worthy of any potential fans or patrons.

Survival of the Biggest was my first ever size story. I just got the idea while watching the first Hunger Games movie. The story is definitely a darker story. It follows Juno, a young alien who wakes up somewhere mysterious with countless girls belonging to other alien species. They are all thrown into an alien world where they must eat or be eaten. They are told they have been given something that will make anything but meat taste horrible, and the act of consuming meat will make them grow bigger. The setting focuses on the morals of those placed within it. Would you starve yourself, resisting the growing hunger? Or would you give in to the hunger, find someone smaller than you, and consume them, surging bigger in size so you could consume bigger and more people? Ultimately there can only be one winner. This is my favorite kind of size setting. One that focuses on size changing and the philosophical and psychological questions that it raises. In the end, I was incredibly inexperienced while writing it and it didn’t get a lot of feedback in the form of comments. It hasn’t been continued for years and right now it’s story is being continued in a refined form through a Roleplay.

#7) What are the rewards for folks who support your Patreon?

For over a year now I have been working to improve my craft. I haven’t been an active poster with art because I felt like my art wasn’t good enough for me. I have plans on returning, with bigger and better art. I am currently a student and therefore each and every penny would go a long way in terms of supporting me!
