Attack of the 50 Foot Camgirl

Good morning everyone and welcome back to There She Grows,

It is with a little trepidation that I prepare to dive into the latest homage to 1958’s “Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman.” That title is often shortened to AOTFFW in conversations within the size community and thus AOTFFW will be used for the sake of brevity in this review. (NOTE: For those interested in a deep dive into AOTFFW, please check out my video “Love Letter to Nancy Archer” on YouTube.) For our purposes today, it’s important to note that since AOTFFW’s initial release a number of homages and parodies have followed. These include films like the 1993 AOTFFW remake, 1995’s “Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfold,” and 2012’s “Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader.”

It’s also important to note that the original AOTFFW was done on a very small budget, even for the late 1950s. In that aspect, 2022’s “Attack of the 50 Foot Camgirl” resembles AOTFFW. However, the lackluster special effects (SFX) seen in the trailer, the minimal advertising for Attack of the 50 Foot Camgirl, and its unusually short runtime, a paltry 62 minutes including the end credits, are not good signs.

Unfortunately, those ominous indicators of mediocrity were accurate. This movie was a low-effort affair devoid of imagination or passion. I would call this a shameless cash grab, but it’s unlikely that it will earn a lot of money.

Although, its reason for being may have simply been an excuse for the director Jim Wynorski to film topless beauties. Indeed, both female leads disrobe. Albeit, they are naked when regular size and clothed when supersized. Additionally, there was a 30-second shower sequence which felt out of place and was padding in a movie which is only an hour long ❗

A gentleman who likes naked ladies is not a problem for me, but I don’t feel like subsidizing his desires if that means paying for a crappy film.

^ Note that Fuschia was described as “the young upstart.” That will be important later.

However, let’s briefly go over the plot before detailing the pros and cons. The action is centered on a camgirl called “Beverly Wood,” played by blonde newcomer Ivy Smith. IMDb lists this film as her only credit. Beverly is married to “Bradley,” played by Eli Cirino. Beverly’s assistant is “Fuschia,” played by Christine Nguyen.

Along with working as a camgirl, Beverly also funds research into the development of alternate food sources. As camgirls are known for doing? I guess? <shrug> Three of her scientists devise a new type of food which can “regenerate” itself. Ergo, if you break one of their hot dogs into two then each half will regrow into a full-size hot dog. Right away you may be recoiling in horror at the thought of chewing such a meal into small bits then swallowing it only to have every part regrow into a full-size hot dog within your body. Would one’s stomach explode when each one of the partially digested morsels swell back to full size? Was I the only viewer who contemplated that grisly possibility? 😉

Human testing would not be feasible for years, but Beverly was impatient and immediately took a bite. Right away, that ill-considered consumption gives her some vague intestinal distress and eventually causes Beverly to grow to 50 feet tall! Albeit, not even a brief growth or transformation scene was provided. Instead, one moment Beverly was slightly taller than normal and the next moment she was a towering giantess. (SPOILER ALERT: Multiple people, two women and one man, grow to giant size, but no one was given a proper transformation scene.)

Okay, first things first, this movie feels like an old man trying to emulate youth culture but doing no research beforehand. He knows that camgirls are a thing, but doesn’t really know what they are. For instance, Merriam-Webster and Oxford Languages define “camgirl” as “a woman who poses for a webcam,” often for adult entertainment. Therefore, keeping that definition in mind, a viewer would reasonably expect to see Beverly Wood, purportedly a camgirl, sitting in front of a webcam and streaming, like Pokimane in the following screenshot:

Pictured here is Pokimane an Internet celebrity who, at the time of this writing, was the most popular female streamer on Twitch.

Instead of appearing in front of a webcam, Beverly is filmed in a shower and her husband later records her as a giantess, but she never actually performs as a camgirl. You know, that profession she is supposed to hold. It’s like filming “Attack of the 50 Foot Hockey Player” and never showing the titular character playing hockey. The audience is told that she is a camgirl, but never see her in that role.

Tension in this film first arises between Beverly and Fuschia. Unbeknownst to Beverly, Fuschia is sleeping with Bradley. That’s an adequate source of tension and works well enough to generate conflict. However, there’s a subplot (as seen in the description at Amazon) where Fuschia is described as being younger than Beverly. It does not work. Christine Nguyen, who played Fuschia, is visibly older than Ivy Smith, who played Beverly. I was unable to find Ivy Smith’s age, there are other actresses with that name which complicated my research. However, IMDb lists Christine Nguyen’s birth date as being in February 1980; so, she is 42. My guess is that Christine is at least a decade older than Ivy, and may be as much as two decades older. Therefore, having Christine described as a “young upstart” and hearing her character state that Beverly was getting too old did not work. A viewer may wonder “Why does Grandma think this clearly younger lady is too old and that Grandma should be the next superstar camgirl?

Ivy is on the left and Christine on the right in this screenshot. Quick question for my readers, which performer looks older?

That sounds harsh, so I want to be clear. Christine is an attractive lady. Furthermore, there is the famous saying that “people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” Accordingly, it must be noted that my own physical appearance could best be described as resembling a diseased potato.

My point is not that Christine is old and ugly. My point is simply that it was difficult to accept that a character portrayed by Christine was younger than a character portrayed by Ivy. Why not simply switch the two? It would have worked much better to cast Christine as the beautiful but aging star at risk of being overthrown by the younger Ivy.

In addition to Christine being older than Ivy she also gave a better, more effective performance. That may sound odd as this production certainly did not call for a wide emotional range. Nonetheless, Christine was the best performer out of the entire cast. Her performance actually had some life to it! All the more reason to make her the lead.

That point made, let’s step away from the negatives to discuss some of the positives. There was a line of dialogue which was effective. Beverly told her husband Bradley that she wasn’t so drunk that she didn’t realize what it meant when signing away all rights to her own work. He thought that she was drunk and thus could not understand what was happening. However, in reality she did understand, but went along with it because she believed that they would always be together. It demonstrated that Beverly allowed herself to be completely vulnerable with a man she loved. It also showed that Bradley was a huge asshole for taking advantage of such trust.

Furthermore, I am an unabashed growth fan. Thus, even simple lines of dialogue such as the following get my gears turning!

Lastly, the model buildings looked okay. They weren’t particularly notable, but they did the job well enough.

The only attempt at depicting growth was Fuschia breaking the roof of this miniature home from the inside.

That’s all I can think of for positives, let’s return to the negatives. Now we’ll examine the SFX in more detail. How exactly did they fall short? Well, the SFX faltered in many details, like for instance in the following. Please note that 50-foot tall Beverly is wearing high heels. (SIDE NOTE: A token explanation was given for how the clothing expanded to fit her body.)

That outfit above was worn by Beverly during her entire time as a giantess. Thus, how exactly did she create the following footprint? Why didn’t the men responsible for miniatures and visual effects, identified as Chuck Cirino and Jeff Leroy in the credits, simply make an enormous-sized heel print? Presumably, they did not do so because even minimal attention to detail was not their concern.

Likewise, the chroma keying effects, a.k.a. green screen, was lackluster. For example:

Her wrist briefly separated from the arm for a moment o_O

Lastly, some dialogue felt out of sequence. Specifically, right after Beverly had grown enormous, Bradley arranged a photo shoot with giant Beverly and normal-sized Fuschia.

Doesn’t feel like these performers are in the same space.

After that exhaustive shoot with the immensely tall woman, Bradley and Fuschia go to a bar.

Yes, let’s spend time making a CGI bar sign and totally skip making a proper growth scene 😉

At that bar, Beverly breaks the skylight and spots Bradley with Fuschia. In response, Fuschia says “Oh my god, she’s huge!”

Um, okay, no shit Fuschia. Did you not notice that Beverly was of above-average height (to put it mildly) during the earlier photo shoot? How, exactly, did that fact escape you?

Also, this was a missed opportunity to recreate the iconic AOTFFW scene when Nancy Archer reached into Tony’s Club to grab philandering husband Harry. Instead, Beverly merely smashes a window, notices that her husband is kissing Fuschia, and then moves along. Apparently, neither law enforcement nor military forces reacted to the statuesque camgirl walking to the bar.

Earlier, I wrote that this film felt like “an old man trying to emulate youth culture.” As evidence, I pointed out the folly in calling Beverly a camgirl, but never showing a webcam. To further support my claim, there were also multiple moments when Beverly said “hashtag” this or that. None of it was funny.

In the same vein, Bradley says he could cancel his wife in one scene and in another Beverly tells her husband “Stay in with me tonight, I wanna get unfiltered with you.” Groan.

There was also a girl-girl scene which felt unexpectedly chaste in an unrated film. Amazon lists it as “NR.” Come on Jim, push boundaries! Show one woman performing cunnilingus on the other or the ladies 69’ing each other, finger banging, etc. Basically, give us something creative or interesting. Instead, it was an elderly female scientist played by Lisa London, who is 64 years old, lying in bed with Beverly while both kept their clothes on.

This tame lesbian scene might have been provocative in the 1980s. Not so much today.

Overall, Attack of the 50 Foot Camgirl is an easy pass. Customers deserve better and should not reward such a piss-poor effort. Save your hard-earned money for those creators who actually try to make something worthwhile. Ergo, size-fetish fans could support amateur creators like Bratty Foot Girls, Destruction Damsels, and Media Impact Productions rather than waste cash on this. Those amateur creators don’t have even the limited budgets given to Jim Wynorski, but they manage to produce videos with comparable SFX!

If you want to watch an enjoyable movie directed by Jim Wynorski then I recommend his earlier horror and sci-fi works like “Chopping Mall” or “The Return of Swamp Thing.” Plus tassel-wearing buxom brunette Raven De La Croix was quite memorable in the softcore “The Lost Empire.”

That’s it for now folks. Until next time, keep growing!

  1. Thanks for the review. As soon as I saw the trailer, I was waiting to read what you had to say about it.

I wonder if GTS movies are so lazily done is because there doesn’t really need to be a plot or tension or progression or production values, really. Exposition in terms of plot or dialogue are simply vehicles to get to the good stuff, which is a hot, giant woman roaming around. I once read that the GTS fetish is the worst one to have because there’s no way to truly act upon it in real life. In terms of GTS movies, substandard production and effects and story are enough because it “creates the reality” which can’t actually be “created in reality” (if that makes sense). If GTS filmmakers are going to cut corners, is it incumbent upon the community to demand at least some professional effort be put into these productions? Or is it a case of “you get what you get and you don’t get upset?”

Secondly, I’m hoping to ask the community here: what makes for a good GTS movie in the following ways: leading up to the growth, the growth and subsequent action/conflict, resolution of said action/conflict, and production values?

Thanks as always for your thoughtful commentary.

    1. Thank you for those kind words! You always have great ideas for future articles. Seems that it’s time to write an editorial on what would make a good PG-13 or R-rated GTS film.

  2. Solo, stupid question time. Where did you watch this piss poor excuse for a GTS flix? And what ever happened to that 2nd “Giantess Attack” that Jeff Leroy made? Just asking.

    1. I bought it on Amazon. People can watch it with the “Full Moon” 7-day trial and then cancel before the free trial ends. However, I wasn’t sure how long it would take to write the review so I went ahead and bought a copy. Maybe the creators will see my purchase and think they must have done something right! 😉

As for the 2nd “Giantess Attack,” who knows when it’ll be released! Sino7 on the Giantess City forums created a thread about the movie back in February 2019. Sino7’s first post included the following: “Continuing the 2017 film. Has several titles. Which one is original, I don’t know. But surely it will be released this year.” Suffice to say, that didn’t happen. Although, IMDb also lists a 2019 release. To the best of my knowledge, Giantess Attack vs. Mecha Fembot has been shown at film festivals. No clue when it will get a general release. My guess is sometime this year. Seems like whatever momentum it might have had has been lost due to the extended delay, but time will tell.

  3. Excluding studios such as Media Impact, I’m going to list off “mainstream” (for lack of a better word) GTS movies here. Apologies if I miss any:

    -AOTFFW (1958)
    -AOTFFW (1993)
-30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock
-Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfold
-Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader
-Attack of the 50 Foot Camgirl
    -Giantess Attack

Granted I haven’t seen all of these films, but I’d wager that each one has an element that is really well done and if you combined those good elements, you’d have a pretty decent film. For example, “Cheerleader” may be most realistic looking movie, while “AOTFFW (1993)” is tops at depicting GTS interaction with the smaller populace. It’s like each movie does one thing well….even if by accident…and forgets about everything else. Again, I could be way off base, so looking forward to what everyone else has to say.

    1. It’s tricky these days to classify works as “mainstream.” At one time, a distinction could be made between movies which received theatrical releases and those that went straight to home video. However, with the rise of streaming services, some relatively high budget films are skipping theaters and appearing only on Amazon Prime or Netflix. Accordingly, if Giantess Attack qualifies as mainstream then I might add Nightveil Media’s GTS works as well. Nightveil has made several GTS flicks, most of which I’ve reviewed, which are non-explicit and thus presumably PG-13. Although, I doubt that they’ve gone thru the official rating process.

I’ll mention key scenes from a few of the aforementioned movies in my upcoming editorial about a worthwhile GTS film suitable for broad audiences, ergo a film which could be enjoyed by GTS fans even without hardcore sex scenes. Personally, I loved the brief scene in AOTFFW (1993) during which Nancy Archer invites Harry to “consider pleasures that no one has ever dreamed of.” No nudity or actual sex acts were depicted, but the carnal possibilities she implied were highly erotic!

  4. I have to comment that I thought that 50ft. Cheerleader was the best of the bunch so far. The scene when Treat Williams uses our chained down giantess’ vagina as a echo chamber was funny as hell!

  5. Solo, a couple of weeks ago, some wanna be film reviewers wrote a review for this flix. It was nothing more than an ass kissing piece. In protest, I personally posted this review in over 30 different GTS groups on Facebook. You’re welcome.

  6. FWIW, The February 23 edition of Hustler did a four page article on the Camgirl GTS flicks. Thank you for the review.

I’m glad movies like this are still being made.

      1. Im a subscriber. It’s two pages of pics and a brief look at the director and a few actresses.

It’s probably not worth the cover price. I was just amazed to see gts content getting coverage like this.
